Personal
information/history:
I
was born September 16, 1979 in Jerome, Idaho. When I was one year
old, my family moved to Blackfoot, Idaho, where I spent the next
sixteen years of my life. I am the oldest of four children. I have
a sister, Kimberly, who is married and just had a baby boy--Justin
Jack Whitehead--on July 1, 2004. My brother, David, is serving a
mission in Little Rock, Arkansas. My youngest brother, Bradley,
just graduated from high school and is attending BYU in Provo.
After
graduating from Blackfoot High School in 1997, I attended Ricks
College in Rexburg, Idaho for two years. I graduated with my associate's
degree in elementary education and transferred to Brigham Young
University. I graduated from BYU one and one-half years later, in
December 2000, with a bachelor's degree in elementary education
and a minor in family life. I moved back to Blackfoot and taught
at the Blackfoot Charter Community Learning Center for the rest
of that year and the next. The charter school had just opened that
year, so I was involved in a great deal of curriculum development
and planning. I taught reading, writing, math, science, social studies,
and music to kindergarten-fifth grades. It was a great experience,
and I learned so much. I loved the time I spent at the charter school,
but I felt I should move back to Provo, so that next summer, I did!
I
was thrilled when I was hired for a fourth grade teaching position
at Geneva Elementary. I quickly fell in love with the school, principal,
teachers, students--everything! This is my third year at Geneva,
and I have loved every moment of my teaching experience here.
The
day I moved back to Provo, I met my husband, Jason Ginos. We dated
for one year before getting married July 25, 2003 in Idaho Falls,
Idaho. After our wedding we moved to an apartment in Orem, and have
lived there since. We really like Orem. It's a great community.
Jason just graduated from BYU with his bachelor's degree in neuroscience,
so he's working this year while applying to medical and graduate
programs. We're not sure where we'll go from here. We both have
family in Idaho and Utah, so we're hoping to stay close by, but
it just depends on where he gets accepted.
I
love teaching, and I'm excited for a great year. I want to be the
best teacher I can, so I welcome any questions or concerns you have.
